Session 16: Using Digital Tools, Improving Coverage, Serving Communities
One of the fundamental conditions for a media company to maintain its economic sustainability is that it must be indispensable for its readers, its community.
This last year, Latin American media companies created important digital projects to cover several phenomena that directly affected their communities: elections, natural disasters, immigration, social issues, violence, economic crises, corruption. They achieved this by making use of all the tools and opportunities offered by digital technology: the use of video and audio, computer graphics and data visualization, virtual and augmented reality, etc. In this session, several of them will present how they carried out these initiatives, and what impact they had, not only for their communities, but also for the way in which communities perceive the media.
