Hannah Storm is Director of the International News Safety Institute (INSI), a UK-registered charity, which provides safety advice and training to journalists working in difficult and dangerous situations, from conflict to disasters, civil unrest to online harassment.
Its members include many of the world’s leading news organisations including the BBC, CNN, Reuters, Globo, AFP and NHK.
Storm is the co-author of ‘The Kidnapping of Journalists: Reporting from High Risk Conflict Zones’ and ‘No Woman’s Land: On the Frontlines with Female Reporters’, which explores the unique safety issues for women working in the media.
She also works as a freelance media consultant and trainer for different UN agencies with a specific focus on gender and the media.
Before joining INSI, Storm spent more than a decade working mainly overseas as a journalist for outlets including the BBC, The Times, Reuters and ITN, as well as a media officer for Oxfam.
