Michael Cooke started his career at Toronto star to cover the election in Canada in the beginning of 1970s. Later on he helped to launch the newspaper The National Post, one of the biggest newspaper in Canada. He was the last editor of the Financial Post and merged the two papers The National Post and Financial Post.
He spent a decade in America, first as the editor at the Chicago Sun-Times, then Editor of the New York Daily News. Michael then moved back to Toronto, Canada to be served as Editor of the Toronto Star.
He also joined the Board of Journalists for Human Rights at 2010, has been Chairman for two years and then continuous travelling and teaching (pro bono) in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of Congo. He also taught for other NGOs in Uganda and Myamar and most recently Bangladesh.
He has also written various foreign stories from these countries, plus Afghanistan.
