Sinead was appointed Stuff CEO in August 2017, following a career of more than two decades in media in New Zealand and abroad. Prior to becoming CEO, Sinead was New Zealand Group Executive Editor for four years, responsible for New Zealand’s largest newsroom. Under Sinead’s guise, Stuff’s stable of newspapers, magazines and number one news site, Stuff.co.nz, grew to record audience numbers and was named New Zealand’s most influential publishing brand.
Sinead started her career as a reporter for The Press and gained international experience in London working as a digital journalist for the Financial Times site and as a general correspondent for Reuters’ London bureau. She was Stuff’s first digital editor, leading the growth of the young Stuff site into the largest digital brand in New Zealand.
In 2015, Sinead won Fairfax’s internal Woman of Influence Award recognising the special role she has had in advancing gender diversity, at Fairfax and beyond.
Sinead was also awarded the 2012 Wolfson Fellowship prize, the highest personal accolade in New Zealand journalism.
