Vinay Kamath is currently holding Associate Editor of Business Line, a well known business daily from Kasturi and Sons Ltd.   Vinay had earned his degree in Economics from Vivekananda College, Chennai, consequently a Diploma in Journalism from the Times School of Journalism, New Delhi in 1986. He started his career as a sub-editor with The Times of India Bangalore and subsequently worked for Financial Express and BusinessWorld magazine in Chennai and for The Economic Times in New Delhi in various functions as an editor, reporter and feature writer. A two-year stint in television news with TV 18 in Chennai followed after which he joined BusinessLine in 1998.    In BusinessLine, for several years, he was editor for Catalyst, BusinessLine's section on marketing & advertising. Later he was chief of news bureau for Chennai before moving to the Campus edition of BusinessLine and then launched bloncampus.com, a web site for B-schoolers and aspirants, along with a young team in May 2015.    In 1995, he did a short course in journalism at the University of Westminster, London, as part of the FCO's Chevening Young Indian Journalists Programme.
