Mariana Marcaletti is BuzzFeed's International News Coordinator. She has been a digital journalist for the past 10 years, she was born in Argentina and she has lived in New York for the past 2 years, when she moved to pursue a Fulbright-sponsored Master in Entrepreneurial Journalism at CUNY.
Before BuzzFeed, she worked as a digital producer at The Washington Post and last year she launched a collaborative site with news in English about the region, called Latin American Radar. She concentrated on cultural adaptation and linguistics at Google, where she oversaw the quality of Spanish language in over 100 products and major campaigns, like Project Loon.
She collaborated for the BBC's World Service Radio 3, The Independent blogs and La Nación digital in Argentina.
She was part of the permanent staff of TN.com.ar, the website of Argentina's most-seen 24-hour news channel and of the Buenos Aires Herald, the only English language newspaper in the country.
She won several writing awards (Foreign Press Association in New York, and state-funded essay contests in Argentina and also in Buenos Aires city), and she has given workshops and consultancy in several cities in Latin America and the U.S. She was the main speaker in Latin America's Hacks/Hackers bootcamp in Chile and Argentina, and she presented for Artear in Grupo Clarín, as well as in the last edition of the Ibero American Colloquium in Austin, Texas University.
