China Editor, WARC

Jenny Chan

Jenny Chan is a trilingual journalist, focusing on Greater China, with more than 10 years of business journalism experience in fields as diverse as finance and creativity. Her current reporting dives much deeper than mainstream media into important subjects that matter to CMOs and the marketing elite, and explains the fastest-growing and most exciting market — China — to the English-speaking world.

Since August 2019, Jenny has expanded WARC's content offering to cover Greater China, localised WARC's entirely-English website into Mandarin, and led a translation/transcreation program as well as original reporting with email/WeChat bulletins. She and her team developed the inaugural WARC Prize for Chinese Strategy in 2020, launched a maiden Marketer's Toolkit for China in 2020 and started a new hero-report product.

The Covid-19 pandemic saw the Asia team overhaul their publication strategy and move into pandemic-related content, enhancing ther commercial impact of their editorial work by indirectly supporting 2020's double-digit billings growth. This won them an Ascential Q1 Elite Award and 2020 APAC Annual Outstanding Achievement Award.

Jenny writes, translates, shoots, and edits her own work; those abilities make her versatile filing stories in text, video, voice or infographics. Plus, her proficiency in languages means a cultural bridge between East and West audiences. One of her most memorable career moments was when a source described her as a "reporter with a bullshit detector".
