Sergio Davila is Executive Editor of Folha de S. Paulo, one of Brazil’s largest newspapers. He has held the position since 2010. Previously he was the paper’s foreign correspondent and covered the 2000 U.S. elections, Ground Zero on Sept. 11, and the war in Iraq, for which he was given the Esso Prize, an important Brazilian journalism award. He has written a book about his time in Iraq, called “Baghdad Diary: The War in Iraq Seen from Under the Bombs.” Davila was born in São Paulo, Brazil and attended Pontificia Universidade Catolica de São Paulo, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communication. His first journalism position was with Editora Abril in 1988, where he was a writer, editor and reporter. He is a Knight fellow.
