Fado Museum

The National Palace of Sintra

This castle was probably built on the site of the original palace of the Moorish walis and comprises different wings built during the reigns of different kings. It is one of the most important examples of Portuguese royal architecture and has the largest collection of Mudejar tiles in the country. It's two great chimneys over the kitchen are the symbol of Sintra.

Landscapes & Beaches

It is not easy to decide on a favourite beach in Cascais as there are many to choose from. The modern and well equipped Cascais Marina represents the region's nautical tradition. Another amazing one is Guincho beach, a sandy beach with dunes and pine trees, ideal for windsurfing, surfing and kitesurfing. Tamariz beach, where the Estoril Convention centre is located is an eyeful in itself. You will find calm waters at the Bay of Cascais. Pescadores beach is known for its traditional fishing crafts.

The National Palace of Queluz

This beautiful masterpiece, built by Infante Pedro, the youngest brother of King José, was successively altered and enlarged until the end of the 18th century. It is surrounded by gardens decorated with statues, balustrades, lakes and tiles, representing Baroque style and society.
