Winners in 2020

The results of South Asia’s most prestigious competition, South Asian Digital Media Awards 2020, recognizing outstanding work done by news publishers in digital media is announced. The awards are presented in ten different categories including Best Website, Data Visualisation, Audience Engagement, Lifestyle, Sports, Entertainment Website / Mobile Services, Marketing Campaign for News Brand, Native Advertising / Branded Content, Paid Content Strategy, News Literacy and COVID-19 Projects. Twenty judges from across the globe evaluated the entries and selected winners. The winners will be presented trophies and shall be honoured virtually at the upcoming Digital Media India 2021 Conference on 2-4 March, next year. Click here to view the winners list.

Winners in 2019

The fourth edition of the WAN-IFRA's South Asian Digital Media Awards saw more than 80 entries from over 20 companies, which were evaluated by an international jury comprising of high ranked professionals from the media industry. Manoramaonline.com wins Best News Website of the Year Award. BBC News, The Wire, NDTV Hop, Arre, Sangbad Pratidin, Prothom Alo, and The Hindu are among winners of the Awards 2019.

Winners in 2018

Trophies were awarded to the winners of South Asian Digital Media Awards 2018 during the WAN-IFRA India 2018 annual conference,26-27 September in Hyderabad. The awards jointly presented by Google and WAN-IFRA recognises best practice innovation in digital publishing worldwide. The awards are presented in every region – South Asia, Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe and Latin America. The winners from each region subsequently compete for the World Digital Media Awards.

The Quint, The Scroll and ABP among WAN-IFRA's South Asian Digital Media Awards 2018 winners.

This year, The Scroll won the coveted Gold award in ‘Best in News Website’ category. The Quint bagged the gold for ‘Talking Stalking’ under the ‘Best Innovation to Engage Youth Audiences’ category. The ‘Best Digital Start-Up’ saw two Silver award winners - Sakal Media Private Limited for the Agrowon App and The Hindu for Briefcase.

Winners in 2017

The awards are presented in every region – South Asia, Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe and Latin America. The winners from each region subsequently compete for the World Digital Media Awards.

The Hindu, The Quint, The Daily Star and Malayala Manorama among the winners of South Asian Digital Media Awards 2017.

The Hindu won the coveted Gold in ‘Best in News Website’, so is digital pure player ‘Arre’ for ‘Best in Lifestyle, Sports or Entertainment Website’.

This year also had the introduction of the new category ‘Best Innovation to Engage Youth Audience’ which is a take from WAN-IFRA previous ‘World Young Reader Prize’ and The Hindu won the coveted ‘Gold’ in this category. The winners are chosen from ten categories.

Winners in 2016

Some of South Asia’s leading news media companies, Manoramaonline.com, The Quint and NDTV Convergence were among the winners of the awards, jointly presented by WAN-IFRA and Google. Nearly 400 delegates from more than 20 countries are attended the conference, which was took place in Kolkata, India, on 21-22 September.
