Raju Chellam is the Chief Editor of the AI Ethics & Governance Body of Knowledge, an initiative by the Singapore Computer Society (SCS) & IMDA. He is the Honorary Chair of Cloud & Data Standards under IT Standards Committee, Fellow of SCS, and Fellow of the Advanced Computing for Executives at the NUS School of Computing. He was BizIT Editor of The Business Times, and a cybersecurity columnist of The Straits Times in Singapore.
Director, Asia, WAN-IFRA APAC
Joon-Nie leads the WAN-IFRA APAC team in Singapore. A lawyer by training, Joon-Nie spent over 15 years in broadcast television as a reporter, interactive producer, current affairs producer and news editor at Channel News Asia and its predecessors SBC News and TCS News. She has won several in-house awards for reporting, executive producing and best ‘live’ coverage and a Student Emmy for her Masters documentary project produced at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism while under a fellowship from MediaCorp.
In her seven years teaching at Nanyang Technological University, Joon-Nie set up and headed Newsplex Asia, a US$700,000 convergent training newsroom and media lab in partnership with WAN-IFRA.
Besides being a Vice-President of the Singapore Press Club for over 16 years and co-founding the Hacks/Hackers Singapore chapter in 2015, Joon-Nie is also a regular speaker and trainer at conferences, workshops and industry panels both locally and abroad.
Chief Product Officer, Rev Media Group & President, Malaysia Digital Association
Nicholas Sagau is the Chief Product Officer at Rev Media Group, the digital arm of Malaysia's largest media conglomerates - Media Prima Berhad. He drives the strategy implementation and operations of the group's digital products contributing to the overall group's vision to be the leading digital-first content and commerce company in Malaysia. Nicholas is also the President of the Malaysia Digital Association (MDA) and has a total of 16 years of experience in media in the digital space.
Nicholas is responsible for setting up many new digital initiatives from Media Prima's in-house incubator for digital product development to digital platform transformation and as well as driving the group's vital digital partnerships as part of the Media Prima digital transformation program.
His areas of focus include digital product and innovation, games and app development, e-sports, corporate innovation and start-ups, corporate incubator, OTT and digital video content distribution.
Head, Digital Strategy, Rappler
Gemma Mendoza is Rappler's Head of Digital Strategy and concurrent Data Privacy Officer. In this capacity, she leads Rappler’s evolution in content, data, partnerships, as well as risk management on tech platforms. She also leads Rappler’s multi-pronged efforts to address disinformation in digital media, harnessing big data research, fact-checking, and community workshops. One of Rappler's founding team, she helped set up tech systems and initiated strategic projects that connect journalism and data with citizen action, particularly in relation to elections, disasters, and other social concerns.
Gemma co-authored Newsbreak's book 'The Enemy Within’ in 2011 on military corruption and civilian neglect. Her stories on governance and corruption, the security sector, disasters, and other social issues have won recognition in the Jaime V. Ongpin Awards for Investigative Journalism, the UNICEF-Philippine Press Institute Awards for Child-friendly Journalists, and the Asian Development Bank Institute’s Developing Asia Journalism Awards.
