Executive Director at The Aspen Institute

Vivian Schiller is a media and technology executive with over 25 years of experience. Most recently as Global Chair of News at Twitter, in this role Schiller led the company’s strategy for news and partnership with journalism organizations and the news publishing ecosystem.

Just prior to joining Twitter, Schiller served as Senior VP & Chief Digital Officer for NBC News where she had strategic and operational oversight of the networks‘ presence on the web, mobile, devices, and social media. Properties in her portfolio included NBCNews.com, TODAY.com, MSNBC.com, iVillage.com, and BreakingNews.

Prior to NBC, Schiller served as President and CEO of NPR, leading all of NPR's worldwide media operations. She was Senior Vice President and General Manager of NYTimes.com and Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Discovery Times Channel, a joint venture of The New York Times and Discovery Communications. Earlier in her career, Schiller was the head of CNN Productions, where she led CNN's long-form programming efforts. Documentaries and series produced under her auspices earned multiple honors, including three Peabody Awards, four Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University Awards, and dozens of Emmys.

Editorial & Digital Director at National Geographic Spain

Ismael Nafría is the Digital and Editorial Director of National Geographic España magazine, part of the Grupo RPA. He is the author of the book "The Reinvention of the New York Times" and editor of the weekly newsletter Tendenci@s on the latest digital media trends.

Ismael Nafría is an independent journalist, writer, editor, consultant and speaker specialized in digital media. He was journalist in residence at The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas at University of Texas at Austin for the 2016-2017 during which he wrote his book on the NYTimes, his fourth.

He was the Digital Innovation and Content Director (2011-2016) at Grupo Godo and deputy editor at Prisacom, the Internet company of Grupo PRISA (2005-2008) . He has led several consultancy projects for media companies worldwide and is the author of three other books on journalism and digital media.

Nieman Fellow at Harvard University

Selymar Colón is an award-winning journalist, currently a fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard. Most recently she served as editor-in-chief of digital news at Univision, where she built a team of multimedia journalists and drove the network’s digital integration.

For more than a decade, Colón has been at the epicenter of multiplatform journalism, engaging Spanish-language audiences and the Hispanic community in the U.S. with trusted news and information. Colón has produced coverage for one of Hispanic America’s most trusted brand, Univision, converging the best of linear television with today’s digital storytelling. Coverage includes the 2010 Haiti earthquake, President Barack Obama’s second inauguration and one of the first interviews with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

She holds an M.S. in Investigative Journalism from Florida International University and a B.A. in Communications and Business from Lynn University.

Global Publishing Director Elect

McKinsey & Company

Raju Narisetti previously was Professor of Professional Practice at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and also Director of Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in Economics and Business Journalism.

Previously, he was CEO of Gizmodo Media Group, a group  of digital journalism sites that included Gizmodo, Jezebel, Deadspin, Lifehacker, and The Root.

A media executive with a track record in creating, rethinking and managing major media organizations  in North America, Europe and Asia, Raju was previously Senior Vice-President of Strategy at News Corp.

Prior to that, he was Managing Editor of The Wall Street Journal Digital Network, where he is responsible for WSJ's digital / mobile content strategy and execution;  the Managing Editor of The Washington Post, where he led the integration of its digital and print businesses; the Editor of The Wall Street Journal Europe; and is the Founder of Mint, the second-largest business newspaper in India.

Raju is a Board Trustee of the Wikimedia Foundation, which manages Wikipedia. His home is in New York City though he is often found, rather plainspoken, @raju

Managing Producer for Digital Media at ideastream

Kevin Anderson is the Managing Producer for Digital Media for ideastream, a major regional public broadcasting group in the US serving almost three million people each month across TV, radio and multiple digital properties. He is also an international journalism and communications consultant. His clients have included Al Jazeera, India's Network18, Reed Business Information, CNN International and Reach in the UK. From 2014 to 2015, he was a regional executive editor with Gannett, the larger newspaper publisher in the US. From 2006 to 2010, he held a number of digital leadership positions with The Guardian, and from 1998 to 2006, he worked for the BBC, including more than six years as the BBC’s first online correspondent outside of the U.K.

Engagement Manager at Hearken

Federica Cherubini is a specialist in audience engagement and audience-first strategies for news organizations. Currently, she works as Engagement Manager at Hearken, an audience consulting company that helps newsrooms better listen to and engage with their stakeholders in order to build sustainability. Federica specialises in devising and implementing new and improved ways of working bridging people, disciplines, departments, projects and cultures. Prior to joining Hearken she was Audience Projects Editor at Condé Nast International, working on audience growth, best practice and knowledge sharing. She is an expert on newsletter strategies and editorial initiatives that drive audience loyalty. Federica is a director at Hacks/Hackers London, a community of 4,000+ journalists and technologists who meet to discuss and rethink the future of news. As a researcher, she has worked on the Digital News Project team at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism in Oxford and for the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA). Executive Creative Director at Culture Trip

Focusing on creative and strategic direction, Anne Bourgeois-Vignon's interests lie at the intersection of innovation, media, news, arts & culture. Currently Executive Creative Director of Culture Trip, a travel, culture and media platform, she spearheads content strategy and development. She previously held the role of Global Digital Director at Magnum Photos where she launched magnumphotos.com as a new platform for visual storytelling and photojournalism. Anne has also held roles as Creative Content Director of NOWNESS and Photography Director of Forward Publishing (WPP Group).

Consultant, Subscriptions & Membership Marketing

Joss has over 20 years’ experience of acquiring and retaining customers in the media and e-commerce sectors.

During the course of her career, Cripps has developed hundreds of marketing programmes designed to reach, acquire and engage audiences, and has worked for several blue-chip brands including Amazon, the Financial Times (FT)News UK and Sky.

At the FT, in the role of EVP, B2C Global Marketing, she was responsible for print and digital subscriptions revenue growth. During her tenure, she conducted testing and analysis that led the publisher to evolve its paywall strategy. Joss also undertook several global assignments taking her to Asia and North America.

Joss returned to the UK in 2015 and joined Amazon to run their loyalty engagement programme ‘Subscribe and Save’ with a pan-EMEA remit. 

In 2017, recognising the emergence of a new subscriptions-based economy, Joss established a consultancy business which helps brands optimise their recurring revenues.  Given her background, not surprisingly, much of her focus has been on servicing clients in the publishing sector - devising paywall strategy and how to efficiently acquire and retain digital audiences.

President and Executive Director of The Canadian Journalism Foundation (CJF)

Natalie Turvey is President and Executive Director of The Canadian Journalism Foundation (CJF), a not-for-profit organization that fosters excellence in journalism through education, research, and one of the industry's most prestigious annual awards and fellowships program. During the last decade, Natalie has enhanced the reach and relevance of the CJF by introducing new journalism awards and fellowships and by expanding the foundation's monthly public speakers’ series - CJF J-Talks - across the country.  Under Natalie’s leadership, the CJF developed a national news literacy program to bring greater media literacy to students and later expanded the program to voting-age citizens to help all Canadians understand the difference between fact-based journalism and misinformation the digital world.

In 2018, Natalie spearheaded the first ever World News Day, to create public awareness about the value of fact-based journalism in our society.  Natalie serves on numerous industry advisory bodies and jury panels for journalism awards and fellowships.
