Founding Managing Director, Dart Centre Asia Pacific
Dr Cait McMahon is the founding Managing Director of Dart Centre Asia Pacific, a project of Columbia University, Graduate School of Journalism. McMahon is a psychologist and one of the first researchers in the world on the issue of psychological trauma as it relates to newsgathering. She is an internationally renowned presenter and trainer on the topic and has implemented trauma-literacy programs across the Asia Pacific region over the last 16 years. In 2016 Dr McMahon received one of the Australian Governments highest accolades, a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her services to journalists' wellbeing and health.

Kimina Lyall is a former newspaper reporter and foreign correspondent who spent 15 years covering major tragedies, disasters and mass murders. She has a first-hand experience of trauma and recovery, and has written a book about her experiences in the 2004 tsunami: Out of the blue – facing the tsunami (2006). She is currently in the final stages of training to become a psychologist.
Sri Lankan journalist and researcher on journalism and on-line trauma
Amantha Perera is a Sri Lankan journalist and covers crime and justice, poverty, humanitarian aid, climate and weather events, post-conflict societies and world affairs. Perera has reported for The Guardian, Reuters, The Washington Post, Time Magazine, Yahoo India, Houston Chronicle, the Sydney Morning Herald, and more. Amantha is both a Dart Centre Ochberg Fellow (Columbia University, NY) and an Asia Pacific Fellow (Bangkok). Perera is currently in Australis undertaking a Master’s degree, researching journalism and online trauma.
Journalist and author of 'Troll Hunting'
Ginger Gorman is an award-winning social justice journalist based in Canberra, Australia. In 2013, Ginger and her family suffered the effects of online hate first-hand, and it was this experience that set Ginger on her professional journey into the world of trolls. In 2017, her series of articles on trolling for Fairfax newspapers in Australia went viral and became some of the most-read Australian stories of the year. She is now in demand as an expert on online hate and has written and spoken extensively about trolling and social media self-defence in Australian and global contexts. Her first book, Troll Hunting, was published in February 2019.
Department Head, News Public Service Division, ABS-CBN News
Paraan is the Department Head within the News Public Service Division at ABS-CBN News, the Philippines. As Department Head, she manages news coverage of all public service-related events as well as organizes and coordinates public service activations under the Integrated News and Current Affairs of ABS-CBN. Rowena has also undertaken significant training on trauma-literacy and has implemented many strategies in her own organisation and advised other managers on managing trauma in the newsroom.
