Where can I register and pay?

Do I need a visa to enter South Africa?

The rules for whether or not you require a visa are dependent on your home country. Citizens of the Southern African Development Community are granted visas upon arrival. You can see a full breakdown of visa requirements by country at the Department of Home Affairs website here.

Where will the conference take place?

Both Digital Media Africa 2018 and the African Digital Media Awards 2018 will take place at the Capital on the Park Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg. View the venue and its facilities here.

How can I get to the venue from the airport?

The venue is located conveniently close to the Sandton Gautrain Station. Guests can board a train every thirty minutes and a hotel shuttle can be arranged to pick them up from the station. Alternatively Johannesburg is fully covered by Uber and a car can be called to transport guests for a reasonable fee. Guests are advised to avoid meter taxis.

Where can I exchange money?

O R Tambo Airport has a number of Forex counters where currency can be changed on arrival. In addition currency can be exchanged in the nearby Sandton City Shopping Centre. The venue does not have facilities for exchanging currency. 

Can I get a VAT refund on my shopping?

All goods sold in South Africa are subject to a 15% Value Added Tax. Foreign visitors may claim this back on departure from the country, provided that the total value of the goods amounts to more than R250.00. To claim this refund the tax invoices must be presented to a customs official upon your departure, along with your passport and the goods themselves. 

What times are shops open until?

Most shops in South Africa follow traditional business hours and can be expected to be open from 09:00 until 16:00. Banks are open during these times as well.

Johannesburg is a premiere tourism destination and offers visitors a wide range of cultural experiences, with the best of the continent's wildlife and sightseeing a short drive away.
