Combatting Misinformation and Fake News
Misinformation is false or inaccurate information that includes rumors, insults and pranks, while examples of more deliberate disinformation, malinformaiton include malicious content such as hoaxes, spearphishing and propaganda.
This workshop will discuss how the issue of misinformation from his nascent stage in 2011-2012 has become a major issue now, how it is being systematically propagated by different political parties, social media companies and individuals, what are the types of misinformation, how fake news images and videos can be verified, what are tools and guidelines that can be used, how to find viral content and many more.
