Iris Mayer is head of newsroom of Süddeutsche Zeitung, Germanys leading national newspaper, since April 2019. She is responsible for orchestrating the daily news business for the print and digital edition plus the website. Former positions include deputy editor-in-chief of Süddeutsche Zeitung Online (SZ.de) , head of news at German Press Agency dpa, political editor at news magazine Focus, copy editor at Associated Press  and editor-in-chief of Swiss tabloid Blick and blick.ch
