Who can submit an entry to the North American Digital Media Awards?

WAN-IFRA's LATAM Digital Media Awards are open to news media companies and entities affiliated with the news media industry actively operating within the region. Entries must be prepared and uploaded by the news media organisation, news media organisation representative, advertising agency, or public relations firm working on the company's behalf. International media may apply as long as it has active operations within Latin America.

The competition was open to any project published or being held between February 2020 and February 2021.

Registration process

This process will take you less than five minutes.

The first step is to create an account and confirm your email. Explore the site to find all the requirements. Second step is to start submitting your entries after confirming your registration.

• You may edit your entry after submitting, up until the entry deadline. (May 3)
• Please make sure all your personal details are entered accurately, including contact details, as this will be used to contact you if selected as a finalist.
• You are eligible to enter more than one category, as long as the work submitted meets the criteria.
• You may use the ‘copy’ feature to create a copy of your entry and change the category as required.

Submissions are strictly online based. CD/ DVD / USB will not be accepted. Following completion of your registration online, a personal link to upload nominated materials will be sent to entrant’s email within 5 working days.

Entry fee per submission 

For the first time, EARLY-BIRD registration will be free of charge thanks to the support from our sponsors! Don't miss this unique opportunity! For the REGULAR registration period, each entry will be invoiced at 100 EUR (110 USD). Banking expenses will be borne by the applicant company. Any incomplete payment will disqualify the postulation. Inscription costs and banking expenses will not be returned.

Small and Local Media awards

• In this year’s competition, companies with less than 100 journalists in their newsroom will be considered as “Small and Local Media”.
• As usual, each category will award the project with the highest score amongst all the presented entries.
• Additionally, in each category, the highest scoring project presented by small and local media companies will also be announced as the “Small and Local Media Winner”.
• If your news outlet is a part of a larger media group, please only consider the journalists for your outlet’s newsroom.
• WAN-IFRA reserved the right to determine whether a company is small or large

World Digital Media Awards

The winners for the following categories will automatically qualify and compete for the 2021 WDMA, which will be announced during the WAN-IFRA World Media Congress.

4. Best Paid Content Strategy
5. Best Digital Marketing Campaign for News Brands
6. Best Native Advertising or Branded Content Project
7. Best in Audience Engagement
8. Best Project for News Literacy

Inelegibility and disqualification

Syndicated material or campaigns that are not specifically prepared for your company are not eligible. WAN-IFRA reserves the right to disqualify any entry that fails to conform to the rules. Disqualified entries will not be judged. Fees for these entries will not be returned. WAN-IFRA is not responsible for materials entered in the competition. You will be also disqualified if you have not paid the entry fee.

Terms and conditions

Winning projects for each category of the 2020 North American Digital Media Awards must present a 30-second explainer video for each project in HD and .mp4 format for the award ceremony. 

Participants must grant WAN-IFRA the full rights to retain and use, free-of-charge, any images or material from the contest for publication in books, exhibitions, websites, or for educational and promotional purposes.

WAN-IFRA reserves the right to decide which companies are eligible for the small publishers awards. 

Payment methods

Payment can be made only by credit card. We will send you an invoice together with an authorization form and an online payment link. We ask for your understanding that bank transfer is not possible.
