GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS  

THESE GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS GOVERN YOUR PARTICIPATION ON BEHALF OF YOUR ORGANIZATION IN THE WAN-IFRA / FACEBOOK JOURNALISM PROJECT CULTURAL CHANGE IGNITION PROGRAM FOR LATIN AMERICAN NEWS PUBLISHERS (“THE PROGRAM”). BY SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION TO THIS PROGRAM, YOU, ON BEHALF OF YOURSELF AND YOUR ORGANIZATION, AGREE TO THESE TERMS.IF ANY OF THESE TERMS ARE NOT COMPLIED WITH, YOUR PARTICIPATION MAY BE FORFEITED.

 

Program Guidelines

The Cultural Change Ignition Program for Latin American News Publishers is an executive program which will provide its participants with insights and mentoring in order to activate internal cultural change within their companies. It is aimed at rising Latin American media leaders interested in upgrading their digital and management skill-set and wishing to positively guide their companies’ adaptation to the future.

During 10 or more weeks, this initiative will be composed of 8 top-level sessions that will bring together selected peers and global industry experts from which participants will be able to interact and learn through inspiration, insights, tools, knowledge and roadmaps. 

Sessions will cover topics such as but not limited to: 

-   Organization change

-   Talent attraction and new roles

-   Data-informed companies

-   Audience relationship transformation

-   Management change

 

Application and Selection Process

A committee of WAN-IFRA and Facebook staff will invite a group of 20 to 25 media companies to apply to the Program. Invited media companies must follow all steps set forth in this document, the program application and other communications from WAN-IFRA and/or Facebook and complete and return the program application no later than Friday 9 October 2020, at 08:00:00 PM CDT. All program applicants must agree to these terms and conditions and an authorized representative of applicants selected for the program will be required to execute an agreement governing their participation in the program.

Following the end of the application period, the applications will be shared with the WAN-IFRA and Facebook committee members who will review eligible applications and select 15 media companies at its discretion taking into account the following criteria: 

-  Be part of the pre-selected media companies from Latin America

- The quality and commitment expressed through the application form

-  Have launched initiatives to transform their business and have identified cultural change as a priority

- The two representatives selected by each company need to have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead internal change

-  Ethnic and gender diversity in the selection of the participants will be encouraged

- The cohort of selected companies will need to guarantee a certain degree of diversity in the type of media companies (TV/Newspapers/Magazines/National/Local)

-  Experience in collaborating and/or executing projects with WAN-IFRA and Facebook

- Being part of WAN-IFRA’s global membership network or willingness to join it as part of the program

 

Expectations and Commitments

As a condition to participating, you understand that WAN-IFRA and the Facebook Journalism Project are supporting the LATAM Cultural Change Ignition Program for News Publishers with a substantial commitment of financial resources that will benefit your company. In exchange for that support, you commit to:  

  • Making your participation in the Program central to your company’s most critical efforts over the remainder of 2020 through 2021.

  • Identifying two top-level executives to participate in the Program that represent the appropriate blend of senior and high performing individuals from the editorial and business sides of the company. 

  • Fully participating in each and every online gathering as well as any additional online, virtual webinars and meetings.   

  • Submitting work and completing readings in advance of such gatherings so that the academic coordinator and speakers have time to review and provide feedback.

  • Working with, and being responsive in a timely and effective manner to the academic coordinator. You understand this might include contributing to and participating in (1) public updates on the progress of the project; (2) video and other multi-media content; (3) office hours offered by the academic coordinator.

  • Each participant understands that the sessions under the Program will be conducted in English. The participating company commits to have at least one of the two team members with English proficiency at each Program session.

  • Within the bounds of confidential and proprietary information, the participants agree to publicly share lessons learned and best practices through the Program and WAN-IFRA and the Facebook Journalism Project, with other news enterprises. 

  • Applicants that are not yet part of WAN-IFRA’s global community are highly encouraged to become members.

  • Participants agree to make themselves available to speak at WAN-IFRA and Facebook Journalism Project activities, have their cases showcased in blog posts, etc., about the struggles and wins, successes and failures of their cultural change efforts.

  • Allowing for the use of the participants’ news companies logos, names and mentions for program related blog posts or promotional materials.

  • If necessary, replacing in a timely and effective way any team member who unexpectedly is unable to participate.

Liability and disclaimers

  • Each participant and their company agree that WAN-IFRA, Facebook, Inc. and employees, officers, directors, members, managers, agents and representatives of each are not liable for any injuries or damages of any kind to persons or property which may be caused directly or indirectly from applicant’s application to or participation IN the program and/or any program- related activity.

  • In the event of an Act of God, WAN-IFRA and Facebook, Inc, are relieved of the obligation to perform for the duration of the hindrance. Fire, strike, lockout, natural disasters, and other occurrences for which WAN-IFRA and the Facebook Journalism Project are not responsible but that significantly hinder or prevent WAN-IFRA and Facebook, Inc. s performance are considered equal to Acts of God and treated as such.

  • None of the personal information disclosed by participants as part of this project will be shared with Facebook.

To be signed by two top leaders of the participating enterprise who are authorized to enter into agreements on the enterprise’s behalf, including the executive sponsor and a member of the project team.
