Chief Operating Officer, NPM (NPR), USA

Bryan Moffett is Chief Operating Officer of National Public Media (NPM), a subsidiary of NPR owned in partnership with PBS and WGBH. Moffett spearheads NPM's strategic planning focused on securing corporate support for the future of NPR, PBS, and the public media system; manages acquisitions and partnerships; and provides ongoing thought leadership in the development of new sponsorship offerings. Moffett joined NPM in 2008 and has served public media for more than a decade.

Before being named COO in November 2016, Moffett served as the General Manager of NPM. Under his direction as GM, NPM achieved more than 50% growth in NPR corporate sponsorship, with eight-fold growth in the NPR podcast business alone (2014-2016). He rebuilt NPM's regional sales model with Member stations and established an award-winning NPM digital products team producing some of the highest-performing digital ads among premium publishers. His team's integration of sponsorship into the new NPR Player was recognized with the 2016 Digiday Award for "Best Brand Platform."

Moffett joined NPR in 2005 as a Digital Media Marketing Analyst, focused on building traffic and audience to NPR.org through new partnerships with organizations such as Google, Yahoo, and Slate. In 2006, he led the creation of digital sponsorship at NPR and has worked in concert with NPR's digital media teams to build sponsorship models for the launch of NPR's iPhone apps, the NPR iPad app and NPR podcasting.

Moffett's work and advocacy has helped establish a sustainable business model for the podcasting medium at large. As a member of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Podcast Working Group and other industry efforts, Moffett has advocated for informed, standardized podcast measurement to help prepare the industry for dramatic growth.

For his contributions to advancing the digital ad operations industry and ongoing leadership in the field, Admonsters honored Moffett with a Digital Media Leadership Award in 2017.

Prior to joining NPR / NPM, Moffett spent his early career managing editorial publications and digital/IT infrastructure. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in News-Editorial from West Virginia University.

CEO, Vocento, Spain

Luis Enríquez Nistal (1971) holds a degree in economics and business from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE) and has been Chief Executive Officer of Vocento since July 2011.

Luis Enríquez joined Unedisa Editorial in 2000 as Managing Director of the regional editions, where he rescaled and centralised the management of the six business units. In 2007 he was appointed Director General of the company, which publishes Marca, El Mundo, Expansión and other titles. During this time, he was responsible for the integration of publications from Grupo Recoletos following the merger with Unidad Editorial. He managed two restructuring processes in 2009 and 2010 and was the driving force behind the launch of the Orbyt platform.

At Vocento he has focused on ensuring the editorial independence of the print and digital newspapers, which are the core of the business. He has restored profitability, increased circulation margins and accelerated digitalisation across all the publications. Vocento is the first publishing company in Spain to launch premium subscription services, with all its regional newspapers delivering ON+ paid services to digital subscribers.

Executive Vice President, COO, JP/Politikens Hus, Denmark

Dorthe Bjerregaard-Knudsen is COO at JP/Politikens Hus, one of Denmark's leading media companies in printed and digital publications. JP/Politikens Hus publishes three of Denmark’s leading national news brands; Ekstra Bladet, Jyllands-Posten and Politiken. The group’s activities also include local newspapers in Denmark and Sweden, a publishing house, operation and development of a range of digital activities and news services as well as other business areas.

 

Prior to joining JP/Politikens Hus Dorthe Bjerregaard-Knudsen was Managing Director at OMD Denmark. Before that, Dorthe held a number different positions at Omnicom Media Group; amongst others she was Managing Director of Insight Group.

 

Dorthe holds a master’s degree in Economics & Business Administration Economic Marketing from Copenhagen Business School.

CEO, LA NACION, Argentina

He holds a Degree in Business Administration. MBA

He joined La Nacion in 2000 to work as a financial analyst and over the years he has held different positions at different levels of responsibility.

In 2012 LN acquired a media company focused on the U.S. Hispanic market and he was appointed CEO. He moved to NYC with his family for 4 years to lead the project that is still running successfully.

In 2016 he was called again by LN as COO and finally in 2019 he took over as CEO of SA La Nacion.

Senior Director, Ad Products & Platforms, The New York Times, USA

During her tenure at The New York Times, Sasha Heroy has built proprietary advertising platforms, products and formats, and has also overseen the integration of numerous vendor technologies. Today, she leads the teams responsible for the planning and execution of ad products across the Times's digital properties and transaction channels. Following a series of successful contextual targeting product launches, her team recently facilitated the transition of advertising campaigns from third- to first-party data with a suite of more than a hundred proprietary, high-quality audiences.

Head of Digital Product in Prisa Radio, Spain

Ana is Head of Digital Product Director at Prisa Radio, where she leads all digital product development in Spain and Latin America. She co-founded two start-ups: Cuonda and Tablet Army. Cuonda is a podcast platform for the Spanish speaking community, an initiative that has been awarded with GNI funding. One of Cuonda's productions, The Three Deaths of my father, received in 2018 an "Ondas" Award and on the same year it was regarded the Best podcast of 2018 by Apple. Ana has been also a Partner at Prodigioso Volcan, a consulting firm focused on communication strategies where she has led Digital Transformation projects for clients such as El País, Diario de Cuba or El Universal (Mexico).

Ana obtained a BA at University of Navarra, and has been a Visiting Scholar for the Science Technolgy and Society Programme at Stanford University, and a Fellow at the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism (CUNY). She is also an Associate professor for Entrepreneurial journalism at the University of San Pablo CEU (Madrid) while leads the Spanish chapter of Hacks & Hackers in Madrid.

Director, Business Development & Partnerships, Wirecutter, A New York Times Company, USA

Leilani Han is the Director of Business Development & Partnerships at Wirecutter, a New York Times company. In this role, she is focused on driving strategy for affiliate revenue, licensing, programmatic and other strategic partnerships. During her tenure, she has diversified direct partnerships with dozens of brands and strengthened existing core partnerships, while overseeing the success of deal and tentpole events in conjunction with other Wirecutter leaders. This work has helped the product-recommendation company significantly grow affiliate revenue year over year. Leilani has over 15 years of experience, beginning her career at Nielsen's online division before pivoting to focus on affiliate marketing over the last dozen years. She has specialized in commerce content since 2016.

Digital Marketing Director, Tribune Publishing, USA

Since 2017, Darya has been on a mission to grow Tribune Publishing’s digital subscribers base. Having spent over 15 years at advertising agencies driving brand communication campaigns for some of the world’s largest brands, she decided to switch gears and apply her marketing acumen to the world of publishing. As the Director of Digital Subscription Marketing, she oversees the strategy and execution of acquisition marketing programs for such media outlets as the Chicago Tribune, The Baltimore Sun, the New York Daily News and other regional publications.

Diego has over fifteen years of digital experience, working on different industries as Digital Media, TELCO, digital advertising, TV and digital startups. He is the former Digital Vice president of Canal1 and has experience in companies like Millicom- TIGO, Casa Editorial El TIEMPO, Plataforma / CIVICO, Grupo El Comercio (Perú), ClickMagic (Chile) and Millicom Digital Ventures (Sweden). He is a media and digital transformation consultant, digital entrepreneur, an associate professor of IAB (Internet Advertising Bureau). He has also been the producer of some of the most important Internet sites in Colombia and Peru and has a broad experience working in digital media companies, product development, and digital start-ups.

Director of Innovation & Leadership, Craig Newmark J-School/CUNY, USA

Anita Zielina is leading a new programme at CUNY to train the next generation of news executives to address the demand for innovation and leadership in the industry. Previous roles include visiting fellow at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University, researching the role of leadership in times of transition and Chief Product Officer and member of the executive management team at NZZ media group in Switzerland, leading their digital operations. Before joining NZZ Anita held roles as digital editor and deputy Editor-in-Chief at Stern, the German weekly news magazine published by Gruner + Jahr in Hamburg, and the newspaper Der Standard in Vienna, Austria. In 2012, Anita was the first Austrian journalist selected for the one-year Knight Journalism Fellowship at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California, dedicated to entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership in journalism. There her research focused on innovation management in the media and on audience engagement. Anita holds an Executive MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France and a Master in Law from Vienna University.

Verónica is currently responsible for digital media and Adtech at Telefónica, Spain. Her 360º experience (advertiser, advertising support, communication agency and production) allows her to have a complete strategic vision. Her background in Engineering, Communication, Big Data and Business Analytics gives her a very broad vision in technology and innovation. She is also a lecturer in Programmatic Advertising in several business schools in Spain.

Andiara Petterle is an entrepreneur and executive of the digital market since 1998. Currently, she is senior vice-president of Product Development and Operations at Grupo RBS. Previously she was vice president Newspapers and Digital Media for the same group. Before joining RBS, Petterle was the Executive Director of Strategy and Business Development at e.Bricks, RBS’s investment company focused on the digital industry. At e.Bricks, she acted as an advisor to several technology, e-commerce and media companies. She founded Grupo Bolsa de Mulher, one of the largest women's digital media companies in Latin America, and was CEO of Predicta and other digital companies in the country. Petterle has a bachelor and a master’s degree in Social Communications from PUC-RJ, was an invited researcher at Brown University, and has participated in business training programs at Harvard Business School and Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

“Climate& Sustainability” Leader Deloitte España Partner Director “Media&Sports” Industry, Deloitte, Spain

Concepción is a Partner at Deloitte Spain with more than 20 years of experience in professional services. Since 2016, she has been leader of the "Media & Sports" industry, and since 2020, Leader of the "Climate & Sustainability" Practice for Deloitte Spain.

Much of her professional career is linked to the Firm. She joined the Firm in 2000, when it was called Arthur Andersen.Over the years, she has been part of the main processes of merger, restructuring and strategic redesign of leading companies in the media and entertainment sector, as well as leading audits and IPOs of listed companies in Spain and the United States.

Concepción is currently leading some of the main projects that are being undertaken in the Media Industry within the NextGen framework. She is part of different committees of reference in the Firm such as "Business and Sectors", "Innovation", "Social Action", and "Alumni Program", which she has been leading since 2016. She is involved with different social causes, actively collaborating with Prodis, a foundation whose main objective is the social integration of people with disabilities.

She collaborates in several relevant sector publications, such as the White Paper of the Daily Press, Television in Spain, and TMT Predictions, collaborating additionally in articles of interest for the sector, "Football Money League".

Marcos Christensen,  is Co-Founder & CCO Arena Sport / Metroarena. He currently is focused on helping Advertisers and Media Companies thrive in their process of Digital Transformation, Monetization and Audience strategies. Previously, he worked at Comscore as the South Cone Vice President. 

With more than 15 years of experience in the advertising industry, Marcos  has worked in leading companies as Carat, Ybrant Digtial and Fox Sports where he held the position of Latam Head of Sales. Prior to that, he worked as Latam Pre Sales and Biz Development at Ybrant Digital (Lycos) which represented media partners such as MSFT Advertising, Hotmail, Facebook, Fotolog and Ciudad.com. Selymar Colón is an award-winning journalist. Colón spent the 2020 academic year as a fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard. Before her fellowship, she served as editor-in-chief of digital news at Univision, where she built a team of multimedia journalists and drove the network’s digital integration. A digital pioneer, Colón championed the use of social media in the newsroom and created the first team of multimedia news producers to incorporate digital-only videos into the company’s news strategy.   

Her honors include Emmy Awards, a Gabo Award for Best Image, and an Edward R. Murrow Award. She also led her team to win several National Press Photographers Association awards and a World Press Photo for best Digital Video, among others.

Founder and CEO, The Trust Project, USA

An internationally recognized expert and speaker on building a more trustworthy press, Lehrman was named one of MediaShift's Top 20 Digital Innovators (2018) for her work founding and leading the Trust Project. Previously an award-winning reporter on medicine and science, her honors include a Peabody Award, duPont-Columbia and the John S. Knight Fellowship, with bylines in Scientific American, Nature, Health, and The DNA Files, distributed by NPR, among others. Her co-edited volume, “Reporting Inequality: Tools and Methods for Covering Race and Ethnicity,” was published in 2018.

Since joining WAN-IFRA in 1997, Valérie has accrued more than 20 years of experience as a media journalist. Currently, she is a team member of WAN-IFRA's Global Advisory division where she works with the Advisory Team in leading global consulting projects. She is also the Programme Lead for WAN-IFRA's top global conferences including: World News Media Congress and our Digital Media Event Series. She has contributed to numerous research reports, including  Alternative Revenue Streams for Publishers. As part of her research, Valérie interviewed numerous publishers who had found success discovering new business models - whether its through events, e-commerce, video or marketing services - Valérie has experience taking the pulse on what generates revenue for publishers.

Arun is a Google News Initiative Global Strategy & Operations Lead. Over the past couple of years, he's overseen the GNI's portfolio in Latin America and led many of the reader revenue labs across the world. He is a global co-lead of the recently launched Digital Growth Program and primary author of the GNI Reader Revenue Playbook. Before working on the Google News Initiative, Arun spent time as a member of the Google News Lab and on the Google Chief Marketing Officer's strategy team.
