Héctor M. Aranda is Vice President of Grupo Clarín and CEO of AGEA S.A., Diario Clarín's publishing house.
Grupo Clarín has among its main assets ARTEAR S.A, responsible for the television signal Canal 13 and TN, Radio Mitre S.A, leading radio in Argentina and AGEA S.A, responsible for Diario Clarín and Diario Deportivo Olé; in addition, among its assets, is the CIMECO Society, owner of the newspapers "La Voz del Interior" (from Córdoba) and "Los Andes" (from Mendoza).
Héctor Aranda is a public accountant graduated from the National University of La Plata. He joined Arte Gráfico Editorial Argentino in 1983 and became responsible for the administrative and financial divisions of that company. Since 1998 he has been General Manager of AGEA.
He is also currently Director of the following companies: Grupo Clarín, Agea, Papel Prensa, AGL, Tinta Fresca, Cúspide, Cimeco, Fairs and Exhibitions, Opportunities, Unir, and Impripost.

CEO, PRISA Noticias, Spain

Alejandro Martínez Peónis CEO of the Group’s news division, PRISA Noticias. He held the same position at TeleCable between October 2009 and August 2017. Previously, between 2000 and 2009, he held a range of senior management positions at Grupo Teléfonica, both in Spain and Latin America. He began his career at Arthur Andersen in 1995. 

He has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Oviedo, and he also studied at The London School of Economics and Political Science and at Stanford University.

Director Consumer Strategy, Vocento, Spain

Laura Velasco has been working in the Spanish media group Vocento since 2015. She spent the first two years in the newspaper ABC, where she worked as head of the CRM area and set up the customer centric approach, leading the evolution of user analysis. In 2017 she took up her current position managing three main areas. Firstly, she is responsible for the communication tools with users for the group (CRM and MKT Automation area). Secondly, she manages and evolves user processes and collects the data of every user category (Process and UX area). Thirdly, she is in charge of the digital subscription area, where together with the media in 2020 the business model will have been implemented in Vocento’s 12 regional newspapers. Her team develops the new functionalities of ecommerce and manages the capture and loyalty of subscribers. In a cross-sectional capacity, she is helping all the business units of the group to achieve their goals. Previously, she had accumulated more than 15 years’ experience working in different industries and sectors, always linked to user management, watching how digital transformation does not stop evolving. This evolution has been challenging as well as both exciting and dynamic.

CCO, El Confidencial, Spain

Head of Digital with more than 20 years of experience in media working for some of the most important publishing groups in Spain and the world. In recent years, she has performed relevant roles in the main publishing houses in Spain such as El Confidencial, G + J ESPAÑA, Condé Nast Digital, and Glamour. From 2016 to 2017 she was the digital commercial director at G + J Spain, where she was responsible for the creation and organization of the Digital Bussines team.

Diego has over fifteen years of digital experience, working on different industries as Digital Media, TELCO, digital advertising, TV and digital startups. He is the former Digital Vice president of Canal1 and has experience in companies like Millicom- TIGO, Casa Editorial El TIEMPO, Plataforma / CIVICO, Grupo El Comercio (Perú), ClickMagic (Chile) and Millicom Digital Ventures (Sweden). He is a media and digital transformation consultant, digital entrepreneur, an associate professor of IAB (Internet Advertising Bureau). He has also been the producer of some of the most important Internet sites in Colombia and Peru and has a broad experience working in digital media companies, product development, and digital start-ups.

Founder & Director of the Knight Center for Journalism, University of Texas, USA

Rosental Calmon Alves is a professor of journalism at the University of Texas at Austin, where he holds the Knight Chair in Journalism and the UNESCO Chair in Communication and is also the founder and director of the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas. Created in 2002, the center has benefited thousands of journalists around the world with training programs. In Latin America and the Caribbean, the center has helped journalists to create a new generation of organizations dedicated to elevating the professional and ethical standards of journalism in their countries. In 2016, he was awarded with the Maria Moors Cabot Prize.

Managing Director, Media Services, Media Development Investment Found, USA

She has over 20 years of experience working with media organizations, helping them improve business and audience performance with a focus on digital innovation. Before joining MDIF, she was vice president of UBC International, where she led consulting projects in the US, Latin America, and Central and Eastern Europe. She previously held key executive and operational roles in the successful news and media project launches in the United States and Europe, with Telemundo, SBS (Europe) and CME (Central Europe) focusing on sustainable operations in the areas of news, programming, production of brands and acquisitions. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for SembraMedia and the Jack J. Valenti School of Communications at the University of Houston.

CEO, Henneo, Spain

He holds a Telecommunication Engineer BS with postgraduate education focused on business (MBA by IESE and Corporate Finance by IE Business School) and on digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence (MIT and The Valley). Besides his experience in the Media Industry, he has a professional track of more than 20 years in Strategy Consulting as Partner at Oliver Wyman, in Corporate Finance (Investment executive in Naturgy), and as an entrepreneur in the dotcom space.

President, Press Freedom Commission, ADEPA (Argentine News Media Association), Argentina

Daniel Dessein is president of the La Gaceta newspaper (Tucumán, Argentina), president of the Press Freedom Commission and former president of ADEPA (Asociación de Entidades Periodísticas Argentinas) and member of the WAN-IFRA Advisory Board and its Latam committee. He is also regional vice president of the SIP (Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa), member of the National Academy of Journalism and member of the Iberoamerican Forum. He published articles in more than 150 media and discussed the situation of the press in conferences, media, and universities in 20 countries. Author, co-author, and compiler of 15 books. Among other distinctions, he received the Laurel de Plata for journalist of the year of Rotary Buenos Aires in 2014.

Director of Digital Monetization, El Espectador, Colombia

Natalia Piza is a 2018 Professional Fellow from Latin America with ICFJ. Natalia Piza graduated as a journalist in 2009 from the Universidad Javeriana, Colombia, with an emphasis in publishing, where she also teaches a class about the editing of digital publications and is a member of academic investigation group that analyzes information. As part of that group she also develops big data investigations about polarization in presidential elections. She currently works at a leading Colombian newspaper, El Espectador, as an audience analyst. Her master’s degree is in creative writing from Universidad Nacional of Colombia. Since finishing her studies, she has dedicated her career to digital media. Her first job was in one of the magazines of Publicaciones Semana as a digital journalist, and following that, she moved to SoHo Magazine (of the same publishing group). Her career reached a turning point when she started to work in a NGO for LGBTQ rights as coordinator of communication, working in strategic communication for activism, specifically in a marriage campaign and adoption campaign. She then returned to the media in 2016 to El Espectador, which was founded in 1887, to work as audience analyst. She analyzes digital data to help the newsroom to take strategic decisions. Natalia hasn’t completely left behind her background in journalism, as she also writes for the print paper and the website, and at the moment is leading a new podcast project at the newspaper. Currently, she has a podcast called “Esto es Amor,” in which she interviews various personalities on the theme of love.

Director of Subscription Strategy, Gazeta Wyborcza, Poland

Danuta Breguła is Director of Subscription Strategy at Gazeta Wyborcza, the largest Polish opinion-making newspaper.

She is responsible for Gazeta Wyborcza’s digital subscribers' growth and revenue as well as the publication's performance marketing in digital and its paying audience engagement. Under her supervision, the number of digital-only subscribers of Gazeta Wyborcza has just reached 240,000 in 2020.

Executive Vice-President of Product & Operations (TV, Print, Digital, Radio), RBS Group, Brazil

Andiara Petterle is an entrepreneur and executive of the digital market since 1998. Currently, she is senior vice-president of Product Development and Operations at Grupo RBS. Previously she was vice president Newspapers and Digital Media for the same group. Before joining RBS, Petterle was the Executive Director of Strategy and Business Development at e.Bricks, RBS’s investment company focused on the digital industry. At e.Bricks, she acted as an advisor to several technology, e-commerce and media companies. She founded Grupo Bolsa de Mulher, one of the largest women's digital media companies in Latin America, and was CEO of Predicta and other digital companies in the country. Petterle has a bachelor and a master’s degree in Social Communications from PUC-RJ, was an invited researcher at Brown University, and has participated in business training programs at Harvard Business School and Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Director, Digital Strategy, GFR Media, Puerto Rico

Selymar Colón is an award-winning journalist. Colón spent the 2020 academic year as a fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard. Before her fellowship, she served as editor-in-chief of digital news at Univision, where she built a team of multimedia journalists and drove the network’s digital integration. A digital pioneer, Colón championed the use of social media in the newsroom and created the first team of multimedia news producers to incorporate digital-only videos into the company’s news strategy.   

Her honors include Emmy Awards, a Gabo Award for Best Image, and an Edward R. Murrow Award. She also led her team to win several National Press Photographers Association awards and a World Press Photo for best Digital Video, among others.

Chief Revenue & Innovation Officer, Diari ARA, Spain

Georgina Ferri has a degree in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, also has a General Management Program at IESE Business School and an Executive Master in Digital Business at ESADE Business School. She is currently the Chief Innovation Officer in the ARA newspaper, a small newspaper in Catalonia that has a successful subscription model. She has a directive experience in public and private companies and has worked as a reporter in the main television networks in Catalonia and Spain.

Global Strategy Lead, Google News Initiative, USA

Arun is a Google News Initiative Global Strategy & Operations Lead. Over the past couple of years, he's overseen the GNI's portfolio in Latin America and led many of the reader revenue labs across the world. He is a global co-lead of the recently launched Digital Growth Program and primary author of the GNI Reader Revenue Playbook. Before working on the Google News Initiative, Arun spent time as a member of the Google News Lab and on the Google Chief Marketing Officer's strategy team.

Product Manager, Quartz, US

Luciana focuses on improving Quartz’s reader experience, which encompasses any products that Quartz users interact with once they land on the website and apps, including articles and special features. Prior to join Quartz, Luciana served as the Chief Product Owner at Estadão. As a 10-year newsroom veteran with a Degree in Information Systems and master’s in journalism, Luciana has successfully developed product strategies that align audience, technology, and business goals, as well as build trust within newsrooms.

Americas Director, WAN-IFRA

Rodrigo Bonilla is one of the Cultural Change Ignition Program Managers. 

He's Regional Director for the Americas, at WAN-IFRA, the World Association of News Publishers. He heads WAN-IFRA’s operations for North and Latin America based out of Mexico City. Rodrigo joined WAN-IFRA as Manager of Press Freedom Missions in January 2010, leading the organisation’s advocacy missions worldwide. In 2013, he went on to manage WAN-IFRA’s overall activities in Latin America and launched the LATAM edition of WAN-IFRA’s prestigious Digital Media Conferences, which has since become the go-to event for the region’s most innovative media leaders. The Americas office monitors industry’s trends and offers services to the organization's members and partners across the continent. 

Rodrigo graduated in both History and Political Science from the University of La Sorbonne, Paris, and holds a Master Degree in International Cooperation and Development from the same institution. 

Director, Proceso, Mexico

Jorge Carrasco is director of Proceso, the largest magazine on politics in México. He has a master's degree in journalism by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the daily EL PAÍS. He was international correspondent for the Mexican News Agency in Santiago de Chile and reporter on international trade for the newspaper El Economista, in Mexico City. In the newspaper Reforma, he was a reporter of the investigative unite, working on corruption and transnational crime. He has been part of investigations of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalism (ICIJ). Panama Papers, among them. As a reporter in Proceso, he covered justice and security issues for 15 years.

Business Director, LA NACION, Argentina

Gabriel Dantur is 53 years old and studied Industrial Engineering at the University of Buenos Aires. Before joining LA NACION, he served as Marketing Director of Kodak Latin America, and spent 10 years in the consumer market in companies such as Molinos Río de la Plata and Kimberly Clark. In 2006 he joined LA NACION as Research and Development Manager with the disruptive idea of starting to go through the digital transformation. In 2016, he assumed the role of CEO at ImpreMedia, where he carried out management with a clear positive impact on the environment. Then, he returned to LA NACION to be in charge of the Business Department, whose main challenge is to develop, together with Redacción y Comercial, the two pillars of digital monetization, subscriptions and advertising.

Executive Director, El Colombiano, Colombia

Martha is one of Colombia's most innovative news executives. 

She directed the redesign of the business newspaper, La República, as Strategy and Business Director, a project that later earned a Lápiz de Acero (Steel Pencil) Award. She subsequently led the renovation project at EL COLOMBIANO, as part of its 100th year anniversary, and created and directed the Strategy and Innovation Lab (ECOLAB), a position she has filled since then. In January of 2013 she was named Editor in Chief of EL COLOMBIANO, a multimedia brand with more than 108 years of history, always committed to social development.

She currently serves the board of INMA (International News Media Association) and its LATAM board, as past-president. She's part of the board of the Medellín Museum of Modern Art as well as on the board of the Secretos para Contar Foundation, which promotes literacy and education for rural families.

She has been recipient of the Fe en la Causa (Faith in the Cause) medal awarded by the Presidency of the Republic; the “José María Córdoba” Military Merit, awarded by the National Army of Colombia, and she and her team have earned four major INMA awards, a King of Spain, and several SND awards for excellence.
