Former President & CEO, The New York Times Company, USA

Mark stepped down as President & CEO at The New York Times Company in the summer of 2020 after an eight-year tenure in which the 170-year-old news brand was transformed into a digital powerhouse. Digital subscribers jumped to nearly 6 million, up from half a million when he joined, while digital revenues topped $450 million at the end of 2019. Mark’s appointment at The New York Times Company followed an eight-year term as Director General of the BBC. He is widely credited with expanding the BBC’s digital reach and overseeing development of the BBC iPlayer. He joined the BBC from Channel 4 where he was Chief Executive from 2002 to 2004. Before Channel 4 he held a series of senior posts at the BBC including Director of Television. His BBC career began as production trainee. He went on to edit several news programmes including The Nine O’clock News and Panorama before becoming Controller of BBC Two. He was educated at Stonyhurst College and Merton College Oxford.

Angus Macaulay is the Chief Revenue Officer at STAT (www.statnews.com), a five-year-old media brand reporting on the business, science and policy of health and medicine. In 2020 STAT has led the way in global public health coverage with its expansive and authoritative coverage of COVID. In his role, Angus oversees audience development, subscription marketing, advertising sales, and live events. Prior to STAT, he spent two decades at leading media companies in New York including Hearst, Time Inc., and health and wellness publisher Rodale. Most recently Angus was at Pace, a content marketing agency, where he helped clients develop branded content strategies and programs.

Enrique holds a BA in Sociology. He began his professional carreer in advertising at the media department of Univas Ibérica. At the age of 24 he was appointed Director of Media at Unitrost, and four years later, he joined Bassat Ogilvy with the same responsibility. In 1988 he moved to Madrid to direct Holos Media, the media agency of the J. Walter Thompson group. In 1992 Enrique founded Media Hotline, an advisory company focused on marketing and advertising for media companies. Always involved with professional associations and trade bodies, he founded the "Asociación de centrales de compra" ( Central Purchasing Association) with a group of professionals of his trade. He actively participates in the forums organized by AMI, through its technical commissions, as a member of the board of directors and vice president for a period of 8 years. Concepción is a Partner at Deloitte Spain with more than 20 years of experience in professional services. Since 2016, she has been leader of the "Media & Sports" industry, and since 2020, Leader of the "Climate & Sustainability" Practice for Deloitte Spain.

Much of her professional career is linked to the Firm. She joined the Firm in 2000, when it was called Arthur Andersen.Over the years, she has been part of the main processes of merger, restructuring and strategic redesign of leading companies in the media and entertainment sector, as well as leading audits and IPOs of listed companies in Spain and the United States.

Concepción is currently leading some of the main projects that are being undertaken in the Media Industry within the NextGen framework. Noemí Ramírez is Chief Digital Officer at PRISA News (El País, As, among others) where she leads the Product, Analytics and Audience Development areas, accordingly to the business' strategy, objectives and digital transformation process. Previously, She was Product Director at PRISA Innovation, chief editor at El Mundo and worked at Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE), the largest investigative journalism association in the US. Germán Frassa (Buenos Aires, 1967) is Product & Audience Development Director at Unidad Editorial (publisher of El Mundo, Marca, and Expansión, among others titles). He started his career in Argentina, where he worked as a journalist in TV, radio, and print media, before switching to diverse roles on digital media since 1995. He moved to Madrid in 2002 to lead the international projects department at Terra, Telefonica's web portal. After managing several Vocento's digital properties, he joined Unidad Editorial in 2010, where he developed the existing user-centered digital product management and development worflow.

Tav Klitgaard is a seasoned entrepreneur and digital product manager. He founded his first company in the edutainment space more than fifteen years ago, and did the tour from scrappy bootstrapping through multiple funding rounds, product roll-out, and finally acquisition by a major player. He has since specialized in product management in digital media, first as a Creative Product Owner at issuu.com, heading development and design of the award-winning publishing platform at Zetland. Alexandra Borchardt a senior journalist, keynote speaker, media consultant and Senior Research Associate at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford. As a Director of Leadership Programmes at the Institute until July 2019 she developed and led on the seminar series “Oxford Perspectives”, targeting senior journalists, editors and media managers. Prior to this, she was managing editor of Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ), Germany’s leading quality daily.

Alexandra’s main focus is digital transformation and how it impacts the media, democracy, the workplace and human behaviour. She teaches “Leadership and Strategy in the 21st Century” at TU Munich, gives lectures and talks on digitisation and the media and publishes opinion pieces with Project SyndicateNewsMavens and theEuropean Journalism Observatory. At SZ she held several functions in the politics and business sections. She was also founding editor of Süddeutsche’s ‘Plan W’, an award winning quarterly magazine for women and business. In her reporting she has focused on internet and democracy and the future of work. In 2015 she published Das Internet zwischen Diktatur und Anarchie: Zehn Thesen zur Demokratisierung der digitalen Welt (The Internet between Dictatorship and Anarchy: Ten Assertions about Democracy in the Digital World), Süddeutsche Zeitung Edition Streitschrift. Jeff Jarvis is professor and director of the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. He is the author of “Geeks Bearing Gifts: Imagining New Futures for News,” "Public Parts," "What Would Google Do?", and the ebook "Gutenberg the Geek." He is also cohost of the podcast "This Week in Google."

Joon-Nie leads the WAN-IFRA APAC team in Singapore. A lawyer by training, Joon-Nie spent over 15 years in broadcast television as a reporter, interactive producer, current affairs producer and news editor at Channel News Asia and its predecessors SBC News and TCS News. Fernando is a passionate person around Digital and Entertainment Services. Being a Telecommunications Engineer, he joined Telefonica R&D Labs in 1995. He led many innovation projects in Video and Smart Home. In 2009 he co-founded the Global Video Unit to build a common product and content across Telefonica Group. Until 2017, he covered the entire value chain as Head of Marketing, Video Business Intelligence, Business development and Products. In 2017, he joined Huawei as Video Business Director for Europe and launched the Huawei Video service in Spain and Italy. Since Oct 2019, he is leading Petal Search in Europe, the new search engine developed by Huawei, and mainly responsible of the Business Operation and Ecosystem Development with TOP partners across all vertical industries in Europe.

Ana is Head of Digital Product at Prisa Radio, where she leads all digital product development in Spain and Latin America. She co-founded two start-ups: Cuonda and Tablet Army. Cuonda is a podcast platform for the Spanish speaking community, an initiative that has been awarded with GNI funding. One of Cuonda's productions, The Three Deaths of my father, received in 2018 an "Ondas" Award and on the same year it was regarded the Best podcast of the year by Apple. Ana has been also a Partner at Prodigioso Volcan, a consulting firm focused on communication strategies where she has led Digital Transformation projects for clients such as El País, Diario de Cuba or El Universal (Mexico). Ana obtained a BA at University of Navarra, and has been a Visiting Scholar for the Science Technolgy and Society Programme at Stanford University, and a Fellow at the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism (CUNY). Born in Madrid in 1943. He did his Baccalaureate at the Colegio de Nuestra Señora de las Maravillas de Lasalle. He graduated in Physical Sciences from the Faculty of Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid, in 1965. He graduated from the Official School of Journalism in Madrid in 1969. He completed his military service in the University Air Militia stationed in Villafría (Burgos) where high the rank of Second Lieutenant.

Since 1991 he has been its president. He is a patron of the Royal Tapestry Factory Foundation. He is part of the Averroes Committee in the field of Spanish-Moroccan relations.
