Gregor Waller provides consulting services to international media businesses for developing their digital strategy and transforming their business models for the digital era. Before this, he worked for more than six years in various management functions for Germany's Axel Springer publishing corporation. Most recently, up to February 2011, as a member of the management team of the WELT group, Berliner Morgenpost, Hamburger Abendblatt, he was responsible for strategy & innovation and commercial management of the Zeitungsgruppe Hamburg. After testing a "prototype tablet" with his core newspaper readers – one year before the iPad – he focused on the topics of digital strategy, digital business models and paid content, bringing his experience in these areas to bear also in strategic group projects.

From 1998-2004 he worked for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung GmbH in positions such as commercial manager for publishing houses Prestel and Xenos Verlag. Waller has a graduate degree in business administration from the University of Augsburg and an undergraduate degree in philosophy from the Munich School of Philosophy.

Penny is a well-respected product and audience development executive with experience in legacy and startup local media. Her career focus areas in local media include: product management, platform partnerships, audience engagement, analytics, digital storytelling and digital acceleration. In addition to work as an independent strategic consultant, Riordan served as director of product, audience engagement for Gannett/USA TODAY NETWORK; director of digital engagement products and digital content partnerships for GateHouse Media; and community engagement strategist/social media lead for Patch.com.


Product Manager, Quartz, US

Luciana focuses on improving Quartz’s reader experience, which encompasses any products that Quartz users interact with once they land on the website and apps, including articles and special features. Prior to join Quartz, Luciana served as the Chief Product Owner at Estadão. As a 10-year newsroom veteran with a Degree in Information Systems and master’s in journalism, Luciana has successfully developed product strategies that align audience, technology, and business goals, as well as build trust within newsrooms.

Director of Audience Development Media News Group, USA

Daniel is the digital director of audience development for MediaNews Group. His work focuses on building loyal audiences and growing digital subscribers to the company’s publications, which The Denver Post and the Boulder Daily Camera among others. He previously worked as a digital editor for The Denver Post for nearly eight years in a variety of digital roles.
