Do I need a visa?

Over 80 countries do not need a visa and can visit South Africa without any restrictions. Please click here to see if you require a Visa.

Please note, visa applications can take up to 2 months.

If you are from Egypt, India, Kenya, Pakistan, Nigeria, Mexico please contact the South African mission in your area to see how to secure a visa.
 
Please write an e-mail to Ilona Gümperlein ([email protected]), if you need an invitation letter for your visa. She will let you know what additional visa information is required. Please note that visa invitation letter will not be issued until registration and payment are complete.

What vaccinations do I need?

If you are travelling from a yellow fever area (such as Kenya), you will also need a yellow fever certificate of inoculation. Other vaccinations are not necessary for Durban.

Will there be an airport transfer to the Hilton Hotel, International Convention Center and nearby hotels?

If you are joining us in Durban, you may want to make use of WAN-IFRA’s free shuttle service. Our staff will welcome you at Durban’s airport at a special Welcome Desk. We will help you to find your way to the shuttle service and give you any information needed. It will take you from King Shaka Airport to the Hilton Hotel, International Convention Center and nearby hotels and when the event is over, back to the airport from the International Convention Centre. The shuttle will leave every hour or when it is full (15-seater). Please inform the driver about the location of your hotel.

Bel Punto - Italian

The modern, casual chic restaurant called Bel Punto offers a range of seafood, steaks, poultry, game and Italian dishes. In addition to a large indoor dining area, there's an equally large terrace with unobstructed views of the ocean.

Jack Salmon Fish House - Seafood, Sushi

Jack Salmon Fish House is well-known for its seafood dishes and sushi which include fresh fish straight out of the sea. The restaurant with the ocean in view is located in Glen Ashley, Durban.

9th Avenue Bistro - Continental

9th Avenue Bistro offers its guests a seasonal and creative cuisine with fresh and locally sourced ingredients including meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. The restaurant's wine list includes South African wines as well as a selection of international ones. 9th Avenue Bistro is located in the heart of Morningside, Durban.

Little Havana - Steakhouse

 Butcher Boys - Steakhouse

A new Butcher Boys restaurant opened in the Umhlanga Village in 2017. On the menu? Beef that is either wet or dry aged between 25 and 35 days depending on the cut, basted and grilled on an open flame to your liking.

Olive and Oil - Mediterranean

The intrinsically Mediterranean menu at Olive & Oil includes fresh, seasonally available ingredients, the cultural philosophy of social dining and, of course, olives, remain the key factors.

Harvey's - Grillhouse, Modern Cuisine, Bar

Award winning restaurant and bar in Durban, yet casual enough to chill with your feet up on a couch. Mains might include lamb bordelaise with roasted shallots and parsnip purée, or an elegant seafood casserole in a Noilly Prat (vermouth) and truffle cream.

What is the power voltage in South Africa?

The South African electricity supply is 220/230 volts AC 50 HZ. Most plugs are 15 amp 3-prong or 5 amp 2-prong, with round pins. If an adaptor is called for, consider bringing one with you, although they can be purchased locally. US-made appliances may need a transformer. Most hotel rooms have 110 volt outlets for electric shavers and appliances.
