Kevin Beatty

Kevin joined DMGT in 1996 from the Mirror Group, where he had been Managing Director of the Scottish Daily Record and Sunday Mail. Michael is a member of the chief editorial team at Tages-Anzeiger, one of the best known daily newspapers in Switzerland, and also leads the departments Digital and Newsnet which is a coalition of Swiss newspaper websites. Michael holds this role since 2013. He is responsible for the online content of the Newsnet sites, digital developments and the innovation team. From 1993 to 2002, Marti was a journalist at SonntagsZeitung, Das Magazin and Facts. In 2002, he became a member of the founding team of NZZ am Sonntag. In 2004, Marti joined the weekly published and politics and economics oriented magazine Facts as a member of the chief editorial team, where he managed the culture and society department. For more than thirty years, Richard Gingras has led highly-regarded efforts in the development of online services, software, and new media. These endeavors range from pioneering uses of satellite networking for television, the first applications of television signals for data distribution, both pre-Web and Web-based online services, and the creation of various platform technologies. Over the last several years Gingras has focused his attention on the transformation of the media landscape.  

He serves on the boards of the First Amendment Coalition, the International Center for Journalists. In the fall of 2012, Gingras was recognized with the Manship Prize for contributions to the evolution of digital media. The Manship Prize is awarded by the Manship School of Mass Communications at Louisiana State University. In May 2013, Gingras gave a commencement speech at West Virginia University. Until July, 2011, Gingras was CEO of Salon Media Group which operates the popular and acclaimed news site Salon.com, the blogging community OpenSalon.com, and the pioneering virtual community The Well. Gingras has had a long association with Salon having assembled its initial seed financing in 1995. Salon was the first web-only publication.

Alexander Falchetto

Following his education at an upper secondary technical and vocational school, Alexander managed a variety of industrial projects and worked in CAD development. In 1995 he joined APA – Austria Press Agency, where he took over the biggest APA-IT business segment, planning and operations. In 2012 he completed his MBA in general management and was appointed managing director of APA-IT GmbH. Since then he has been the chief technology officer and authorised signatory for APA. Magnus Zaar

Magnus is the founder of Think Agency, a strategic online video agency supporting international media companies and brands in the video transition. Prior to starting Think Agency he was the Director of Television at Aftonbladet, Sweden's leading news provider, with more than 3.2 million daily users (in a country of 9 million).

Magnus is specialized in online video news and have developed online video strategies for international players such as The Telegraph Media Group, for Aftonbladet (where he previously was Director of Television) as well as for local media networks and online video news ventures. Ben Sinden

In May, Ben led the launch of 'Telegraph Video', a portal that will produce more than 30 news videos each day. He started out as a national magazine journalist before moving into television. Having worked for companies including ITV, BBC and The Shine Group, Ben moved into the digital world of video, working as Executive Producer for ITV’s Multiplatform Video team. Fergus Bell

Fergus Bell is an experienced digital journalist, editor and leading expert in digital newsgathering and the verification of user-generated content by news media. He is also a prominent advocate for higher industry standards relating to the ethical uses of UGC and social media.
Fergus has experience in both the business and editorial sides of the industry, most recently heading up newsroom partnerships and innovation for SAM desk, a social newsgathering tool for newsrooms. Fergus joined SAM from the Associated Press where, as international social media and UGC editor, he led the global operation to source and verify user-generated content for all of the AP’s platforms.

Julie Posetti is a multi award-winning Australian journalist and academic. She has recently been appointed Senior Research Fellow at Oxford University’s Reuters Centre for the Study of Journalism where she will lead the Institute’s new Journalism Innovation Project. Posetti is author of Protecting Journalism Sources in the Digital Age, a major UN study covering 121 countries, published by UNESCO in 2017. Based at the Media Innovation Studio at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), John’s research interests span journalism, the Internet of Things (IoT), augmented paper, mobile journalism, wearables, HCI, drone journalism and innovation theory.    In recent years his research has focussed on the Internet of Things, and how news organisations could utilise physical platforms and experiences. This work includes the Google-funded NewsThings project, an IoT content management system and conductive ink and web-connected print. He has also taught courses on innovation and multimedia journalism techniques and theory at UCLan.   Commercially, he has established business-to-business editorial operations in Manchester and Leeds, and managed large teams of online correspondents both in the UK and further afield.

Richard is a research associate for the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). He is currently involved in a number of projects, most of which involve the use of drones for purposes such as public health, land surveying, and structural inspection. He has previously provided support on a project with NASA, and spent a summer intern at UCLan's Civic Drone Centre, following graduation.
