François aird

Après des études en gestion à l’École des hautes études commerciales de Montréal, il s’associe à Philippe Gélinas en 1984 pour créer la firme de conseil informatique A&G Conseil. Renommée Proximi-T, elle sera intégrée au Groupe Cossette Communication en 2000. En 1988, le développement des interfaces graphiques et l’apparition d’un nouveau support de stockage – le cédérom – les incitent à fonder CEDROM Technologies. L’entreprise fusionnera quelques années plus tard avec la Société Nationale d’Information (SNI) pour devenir CEDROM-SNi. En janvier 2000, François et ses associés lancent IXIASOFT, une entreprise issue de l’expertise de CEDROM-SNi en indexation de documents. IXIASOFT met en marché des outils logiciels pour la gestion de documents XML et DITA. 

Président du conseil d’administration du Centre de recherche informatique de Montréal (CRIM), François a aussi présidé le conseil d’administration d’IXIASOFT et de l’Association québécoise des technologies (AQT).

Chris Arsenault

Chris est investisseur en entreprises technologiques en démarrages et entrepreneur depuis deux décennies. Il a été fondateur et PDG de SIT, acquise par Ubizen, et a contribué au lancement d’une série d’entreprises technologiques: Copernic (acq. par OpenText), Wanted, up2 (Teleglobe) et i5 (Microcell). Chris croit que l’entrepreneuriat est un  “état d’esprit”, et non un titre ni une profession. Philippe has twenty years of professional experience as a software team manager, academic researcher and software developer, including 5 years at Google. He holds M. Sc., Ph. D. and followed Postdoc studies in Computer Science, with research focusing on bipedal control, machine learning and physics simulation. Philippe published 20 significant scientific papers, patents or book chapters, and leads communities of 3 open source projects and of a world-wide academic workgroup. He is a founder of three corporations, including Element AI and ArcBees Consulting, and is regularly invited as speaker in many public events. Phillip Crawley

Phillip Crawley is the Publisher and CEO of The Globe and Mail, Canada's National Newspaper. He oversees the strategy and operations of The Globe and Mail newspaper, web sites including globeandmail.com, reportonbusiness.com and globeinvestor.com, and magazines including Report on Business. During his tenure, The Globe and Mail and its staff have won 58 National Newspaper Awards, and been honoured by many organizations. Prior to joining The Globe and Mail, Crawley held a variety of senior executive positions with some of the world's leading media companies in Europe, Asia and New Zealand. From 1997 to 1998 he was the Managing Director of The New Zealand Herald, and later the C.E.O. Designate of Wilson & Horton, New Zealand's largest media group. Between 1993 and 1997 he was Managing Director, The Times Supplements, London. From 1988 to 1993 he was Editor, then Editor-in-Chief of the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong and Editorial Director of Asia Magazine.

Between 1987 and 1988 he was Northern Editor, The Daily Telegraph, London, and between 1979 and 1987 he was Editor of The Journal, Newcastle upon Tyne. Prior to 1979, Crawley worked in various editorial roles for Thomson Regional Newspapers. He is chairman of The Canadian Press, a board member of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and a governor of the Charter for Business which raises funds for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Canada. He is also a board member of The Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC), The Canadian Newspaper Association, the Royal Conservatory of Music, the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation and the World Association of Newspapers/IFRA. Greg Doufas

Greg Doufas is the Chief Digital Officer at the Globe and Mail, Canada’s national newspaper. He has spent his career building and leading high performance software and analytics teams – turning ideas and data science into products and meaningful experiences. Before joining The Globe and Mail, Greg spent most of his career leading analytics teams at Rogers Communications and Research in Motion (Blackberry) where he was the Global Director of Advanced Analytics. Gordon Edall

Gordon is responsible for driving a joint mandate to accelerate innovation by enabling entrepreneurial Globe employees to do what they think needs done and to explore the start-up ecosystem to find up and coming companies that The Globe can work with for the mutual benefit of both organizations. The goal is to enable the development of new intellectual property on top of the foundation provided by The Globe and Mail in areas including data science and natural language processing, predictive and advanced analytics, AdTech, FinTech and security. Prior to his current position, he was Senior Manager Intelligence Systems from 2012 to 2016. At this position, with a new team of data scientists, he led the effort to implement a set of ETL processes that pushed The Globe and Mail's data into a data lake sitting on a hybrid cloud architecture where traditional BI tools could coexist with Big Data tools like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Impala/Redshift and Mahout. Over time, the company migrated to a real-time stack featuring Kafka/Kinesis and Spark Streaming with SparkML. In addition to the work on the core ETL processes, his responsibilities included exploratory data analysis, feature engineering for predictive modelling and a privacy oversight function to ensure that all of The Globe's data was handled in a responsible manner. Starting at The Globe and Mail in 2006, he was previously Manager Mobile Media, Deputy Investment Editor, and Online Business Editor.

Jean-françois gagné

Jean-François Gagné is a serial entrepreneur in the software industry. Until August 2015, he was was Chief Innovation Officer at JDA and Head of JDA Labs, a position he assumed after being Chief Product Officer at JDA, Vice President for the Center of Excellence, Advanced Analytics & Optimization at Red Prairie Corporation after leading, as CEO, the successful sale of Planora in July of 2012. As CEO at Planora, Jean-François has lead the company efforts to bring to market a highly disruptive SAAS solution in the extremely competitive Workforce Management Space, by combining a unique blend of user experience, A.I. / machine learning and operation research. Prior to joining Planora in 2007, he co-founded and served as the Director of Products of Logiweb, a leading custom Web Development firm in Quebec from 2002-2007, focusing on web-based analytics and decision support tools.

Françoys Labonté cumule plus de 20 années d’expérience en technologies de l’information, particulièrement au niveau de la recherche, du développement, du transfert technologique et de la commercialisation.  Il est titulaire d’un Ph. D. et d’une M. Sc. A., de l’école Polytechnique de Montréal et d’un B. Ing. de l’Université McGill.  M. Labonté s’est joint au CRIM en août 2010 où il occupait les fonctions de directeur, développement des affaires, innovation et valorisation.  Depuis mars 2015, il assume les fonctions de directeur général du CRIM. Françoys Labonté possède une solide formation scientifique combinée à plusieurs années d'expérience de développement et de commercialisation de technologies innovatrices dans le domaine des technologies de l’information. Après l’obtention de son doctorat de l’École Polytechnique de Montréal en 1997, avec spécialisation en vision informatique et traitement d’images, Françoys a travaillé pendant huit ans pour des entreprises à la fine pointe de l’innovation technologique, principalement dans le domaine de l’imagerie médicale. Au cours de ces années, il a eu l’occasion de développer une expertise multidisciplinaire portant sur les principaux éléments de gestion d’entreprises de nature technologique, tant en ce qui concerne le développement de nouveaux produits que ce qui touche à leur mise en marché. Pierre-Elliott Levasseur

Pierre-Elliott Levasseur œuvre au sein de La Presse depuis 2006 et y a occupé plusieurs fonctions de direction au cours des dernières années. À titre de vice-président exécutif, il a notamment dirigé les opérations numériques de La Presse et supervisé l’ensemble du développement et de l’implantation de La Presse+. Il a actuellement la responsabilité des secteurs des revenus, des finances, des ventes et de la filiale technologique Nuglif. Il a contribué à tous les grands projets développés à La Presse depuis son arrivée, en faisant preuve d’un grand talent de gestionnaire. Andrea Lodi

Le Pr Andrea Lodi, chef de file international de la recherche en programmation linéaire et non linéaire mixte, a été nommé en 2014 titulaire de la Chaire d'excellence en recherche du Canada sur la science des données pour la prise de décision en temps réel, à Polytechnique Montréal. Il s’agit de la plus importante chaire au Canada dans le domaine de la recherche opérationnelle. Avant de se joindre à Polytechnique Montréal, M. Lodi était professeur titulaire en recherche opérationnelle au Département de génie électrique et de génie informatique de l’Université de Bologne. C’est aussi là qu’il a obtenu, en 2000, un doctorat en ingénierie des systèmes. Andrea Lodi s’intéresse tout particulièrement à l’élaboration de nouveaux modèles et d’algorithmes permettant de traiter de façon rapide et efficace une grande quantité de données de provenances multiples. Dans ses projets, il cherche entre autres des solutions visant à optimiser le marché de l'électricité, la logistique du transport ferroviaire et la planification des soins de santé. Il a été membre du prestigieux programme Herman Goldstine chez IBM T.J. Watson à New York, en 2005 et en 2006. Ses travaux novateurs lui ont valu d’autres distinctions, dont le Google Faculty Research Award en 2010 et l’IBM Faculty Award en 2011. Il est coordonnateur de projets européens d’envergure en recherche opérationnelle, consultant pour l'équipe R&D CPLEX chez IBM depuis 2006, et auteur d’au moins 70 publications parues dans les plus grandes revues en programmation mathématique; il a également collaboré comme éditeur associé à plusieurs de ces revues.

Yann Pineau

Yann Pineau est responsable de l’organisation de la salle de rédaction et de la production de La Presse+, lapresse.ca et de l'édition imprimée de La Presse. Membre de la direction de l’information de La Presse depuis 2000, Yann Pineau a notamment fait partie de l’équipe qui a géré la sous-traitance de l’impression et la refonte du journal en 2002-2003. Il a par la suite été directeur de l’information de cyberpresse.ca de 2004 à 2007. Après avoir travaillé sur la fusion des salles de rédaction papier et web de La Presse, Yann Pineau a fait partie de l’équipe qui a mis La Presse+ au monde en avril 2013. Yann Pineau a commencé sa carrière comme reporter à La Presse en 1994. Il est diplômé de l’Université de Montréal et de l’École supérieure de journalisme de Lille.

Yves Poiré

Seasoned entrepreneur, Yves is a co-founder of president AdGear. The company was sold to Samsung in June 2016. His vision, experience and his ability to assemble and lead great teams are among his biggest strengths. Prior to AdGear, Yves Poiré has been Executive Vice-President at Fjord Interactive Marketing + Technology, Cossette's digital marketing business unit in Canada. He also was the President of Proximi-T, an information technology company specialized in e-business solutions. In 2000, Cossette acquired equity in Proximi-T, which eventually led to its merger in 2003.  Yves's humanitarian interests took him to Rwanda, India and Ecuador for three years of his career, where he worked on various development projects.

Sébastien Provencher is Director, Strategy & Solutions, and one of the early employees at Element AI (Twitter: @element_ai). Serial entrepreneur with more than 17 years of experience successfully building digital products and services, Sébastien’s recent roles include Vice-President stints at HomeAdvisor and Acquisio. He co-founded two startups, including VC-funded Needium, where he worked as Vice President, Product Management and Business Development between 2007 and 2012. From 1999 to 2007 he played an instrumental role in formulating Yellow Pages Group’s online strategy in Canada. Skok has had a distinguished career in journalism both in Canada and the United States. Mostly recently he served as Associate Editor of Toronto Star. Before joining teh Toronto Star, he was Managing Editor and Vice President, Digital at the Boston Globe, where he oversaw all digital business and editorial groups. Before moving to Boston, Mr. Skok worked for Global News in Toronto where he was instrumental in launching Globalnews.ca, a site that grew rapidly in audience and journalistic quality, recording triple-digit annual growth. He also was a Nieman Journalism Fellow at Harvard University in 2012, the first Canadian digital journalist selected for this honor. He is the co-author of Breaking News: Mastering the Art of Disruption in Journalism, a Nieman Reports e-book he co-wrote with Harvard Business School professor Clayton Christensen and Forum for Growth and Innovation Fellow James Allworth. David Skok began his career at ABC’s Nightline, the flagship current affairs program in Washington, D.C. He was born in South Africa and immigrated to Canada in 1988. He is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and Ryerson University’s journalism program and is a regular commentator on the future of media and journalism. David is a member of teh Board of Directors of the Online News Associations (ONA).

Il est président du Comité de Pilotage de Montréal Métropole Culturelle. Il est depuis 2012 président du Conseil d'Administration du Musée d'Art Contemporain de Montréal qui connaît depuis une revitalisation importante.

René Vézina

Chroniqueur au journal Les Affaires et blogueur sur LesAffaires.com, René Vézina exerce le journalisme depuis plus de 30 ans. Il dirigeait auparavant le magazine Commerce, après avoir animé pendant trois ans l’émission Finances au réseau TVA. Diplômé de l’Université Laval en journalisme et sciences politiques, il a commencé sa carrière en 1977 comme journaliste à la radio et à la télé de Radio-Canada en Gaspésie, avant de passer au réseau national à Montréal. Il s’est ensuite tourné vers le journalisme scientifique et l’économie.
